CEL and intake
I just got a 97 civic and it comes with a CAI. It looks to be some unbranded eBay CAI. It's throwing a check engine light. I got the codes pulled and it came back with 2 codes.
p1259- fuel/air metering (auxillary emission control)
p1336- fuel.air metering (auxillary emission control)
what's the easiest and cheapest way to fix it? I was thinking either getting another intake (like injen or AEM) or getting a stock airbox (which will be a pain in the *** to swap in for inspection everytime). The car has headers and exhaust, will a short ram decrease performace versus a CAI? If not, i'm just gonna save some money and go with a short ram. Also, should I buy a bypass valve? I live in philadelphia. Thanks.

headers?
I dont think you intake has anyhting to do with it, unless all the senors arent into the intake,
a stock airbox really isnt a pain in the *** to put on, you dont need the lower resonator box, the upper box with filter will be fine
A may slightly decrease performance depending on tempature but does increase throttle response, but with a 97 civic the bumper up fron on the sides is solid unlike the 99-00, so putting an intake down there isnt doing a whole lot, no air flow.
If you stick with the CAI, yes a byvass is always recommended, but with a short ram, there is no need
