For those of you with OCD: Wash & Wax - What brand do you use?
Just bought my Rio Yellow 2005 S2K with 2500 miles on it on December 19, 2005. Since that date, only 3 or 4 days have passed when a complete stranger didn't come up to compliment on the car. My favorite: "What IS that?!?" So far, no other toy I've ever bought has dominated so much of my consciousness. Thus, I vow to treat her only to the very best.
1. What kind of soap do you use? I currently use Meguiar's Gold for the wash.
2. What brand of wax?
3. What do you use to apply the wax? (sponge? old t-shirt? diaper? terry towel?)
4. What do you use to remove the wax?
5. How do you wash the soft top? Special soap? Or will the same Meguiar's Gold work?
6. How often do you wash/wax your S2k?
I bought a pack of "diaper cloths" from Target but I haven't used them because I wanted to run it by you guys first. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to use the diapers to apply the wax or to remove it, or both. And I've also seen some of those Turtle wax cans that come with their own little round application sponge. Are those ok to use?
And lastly, something I've always wanted to know:
7. What do you do with the materials when you're done waxing? Do you throw it in the washing machine? Hand wash? Do you dry them in the dryer or hang dry? I've always been afraid to throw a load of towels with wax residue into the washer. It just doesn't sound like a good idea to me for some reason.

1. What kind of soap do you use? I use Mothers Car Wash Soap. Very good soap and has a very good smell.
2. What brand of wax? I use NXT wax because its cheap and its readily available. Some people on s2ki use very high end products as Zaino or p21.
3. What do you use to apply the wax? (sponge? old t-shirt? diaper? terry towel?)
I just use the sponge they give me but others i know use a Porter Cable.
4. What do you use to remove the wax? You can wash the car with Dishwashing Soap (Dawn) and rewash again with regular soap after.
5. How do you wash the soft top? Special soap? Or will the same Meguiar's Gold work? I wash it every time I wash the car and I just use the Mothers Car Wash soap with a soft brush.
6. How often do you wash/wax your S2k? Once a week.

Are those ok to use? Yes I use the one they give from Meguirs NXT. It has never given me a problem with swirls I just rince it off a couple times during wax. I think there is a better blue or green pad that people use with the Porter Cable.

I just rinse off teh wax pad with warm water and wash the microfiber towels to take off access wax inthe washing machine.

I recomment Zaino. Amazing stuff that you can even apply in direct sunlight if you do not have garage space.
I uise meguiars gold class wash, Nxt paste wax which I pply with the included pad and remove with microfiber towels, I dry it with an "absorber" then open all the doors and stuff and shut them and go over it funally with a clean microfiber towel, I also use Zymol pre-wax cleaner sometimes to striip all the old crap off, works really well but if you are ona budget meguiars or mothers cleaner wax works well to. I also rinse the sponge out with water before I put it in the soap bucket each time. I wash it about 2 times a week when the wearher is nice.
I use zaino and ragtop. They (zaino) suggest 100% cotton from US because some of the brands from china aren't; and they're right, some cottons will scratch the finish!

As for wax, I use either Meguires professional series or 3M professional series. If it's a quickie, I use Liquid Glass (that **** rocks esp. for darker colors) with a sponge applicator and take it off with either cotton baby diapers or flannel(works best) The top I use the same soap with a soft brush. I wash once a week and wax around 3 to 6 months depending on build up or lack of luster. What color is yours??
