If I were you I'd pick up a floaty ball type flow meter. It seems to be a bit more consistent than the dial one. I just use the dial one for backpurge off of another bottle.
i have a floaty ball type one...but its HELLA old. I noticed that the regulator is mucho cheaper than the one the lincolns use.
The Lincoln in the back is a 198x Idealarc SP-200 MIG...its a BEAST! Has a spool gun...does AC and DC...you should buy it. ITS FOR SALE

yeah I did notice the foot pedal holder sits crooked...nothing we can do about it. And the bolts were tight as **** lol. They're also offset, so the upper bolt sticks further out than the inner one. At least they got the actual welding part covered

When I got my Miller TIG, I was so "giddy with excitement" I forgot to turn on the gas. "Dang this thing sucks..." Doh!

UPDATE: sat and welded ALL DAY LONG. I finally figured out how to weld SS...it wasnt me! It was the old machine. I setup the purge with the tin foil caps and started in on it...with maaad postflow. stainless looks great! The aluminum controls are awesome! I spent about 3 hours getting familiar with the machine and all of its functions...awesome. Best 2k I ever spent.
And I used to think that the older welders could do "just as good a job"...oh **** oh dear was I wrong.
I luv it.
now back out to the shop to continue welding

You can turn the pulser on and off....
You control the peak of the square wave and the trough(sp?) amperages. You also control how many Pulses Per Second...PPS ranges from 1-15 with accuracy to the tenths...IE 1.1 1.2 1.3 all the way up to 10 and then from 10 -15 its 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15.
To get to adjust the "characteristics" you have to turn off the machine...hold down one of the function buttons, turn it back on, and keep holding for about 7 seconds. Then you can change the settings with the dial.
Also it has the balance function which is just...Max clean -0 Max Penetration -10 adjusts anywhere from 0-10 in whole integers. I use 2-3 for welding cast...and 9 for nicely prepped aluminum. Welds 1/4" like a champ...with a little preheating I did 3/8". good ****

not like your welds were bad by any means before but post up some progress pics. Great buy, I am not ready for the 200 just yet, $$$

no doubt....I'll be happy with the 180 for a while, but when I do plan to get another one, I think I'm going inverter next time around. The bulk of the transformer machines jsut kill me

I'll have pics of the aluminum...its night and day from when I was welding with the Lincoln 175....I mean guys...not even close.
I'm using the pulser set @7.4PPS and the IC piping is looking siiiik on the STi. My first weld was the MAF sensor boss, then the 50mm TiAL flange, and I just got done washing the upper IC piping that goes into the TB (changing direction of flow of IC piping) It;s looking ******* rediculous!!!
I'll be back with pics later tonight...I gotta get it poppin!

Can you tell me what peak and background setting you are using?
Please post pics
