Accord Rear Engine Mount
My 1991 accord automatic vibrates excessively when stopped in gear and violently when stopped and in reverse. I believe it may be the rear engine mount (hydraulic mount). I brought the car to my mechanic and he stated that there is an "involved process to evaluat the mount". (The problem might be the vacuum or the hydraulic unit) The Honda factory service manual gives no information on how to diagnose or change the mount. Can anyone help me?

Well, actually it's quite straight forward with regards to checking the mount.
The Vacuum hose which goes to it; if it's got vacuum below 850rpm, the Mount's no good.
If it has no vacuum, we've got to find out why.

put a floor jack under the tranny and jack it up,, watch the rear mount , if it is broken ,,trust me you will see it ...
And 1 more thing your mechanic is FULL OF **** ... it takes 2 minutes if not less to ,,,as he puts it ,,, ( evaluate the rear mount )..even if you do have to chk for vacc supply or the mount diaphram for vacc leak...stay ways from this guy he is trying to find a way to charge you more money than it is necessary ..
