HOw much does it cost to ref. a motor swap??
yeah I'm pretty sure that is not true, I have yet to go to ref but I am sure it does not cost 3k, call your local community college's auto department and talk to the ref, he/she will tell you exactly if there are any fees and how much.
It was around 3x dollars but now according to the ref I went to (fremont) the price has gone up to around 90. However you can get the second smog done free if you fail.
When I got my car Ref'd last year, it was $30 for the inspection, and $8.25 for the sticker. The $30 covered two inspections (incase you fail the first time). My old roommate spent $90 + $8.25 when he went. At the time, I thought he got ripped off, but apparently they have just raised the price up recently.
edit: also, not sure if you can actually Ref a DOHC ZC. Call your local Ref and find out. They're all a little different.
