3 inch fart can: a few questions
hey, just purchased a straight body CD6 with a few mods, (top o the line imo; check sig), and have plans to put in a jdm h22 vtec in. i registered along time ago with plans to buy a lil crx si, but my budget got bigger, and taste got better lol.
but there is one thing that is buggin me. the n1 style catback, made by who is unknown to me for now. its smooth sounding and im sure it delivers all along the curve, but the damn tip is 3 inches wide. way too wide for me, and when my local mechanic threw on exhaust mounts (previous owner didnt do it right, couldve snapped off header at any time) the tip is touching the plastic rear trim that ex's came with. of course this causes rattles and more vibration than wanted. is there any type of mount that specializes in this and that i could throw on there without having to african-american rig to stop vibration (a la melting and curving down a half inch or so)?? i have vulcanized rubber between the two for now. i would love to replace the muffler and tip but would also love to save $$ for other things. thanks in advance

It's all about how you look at it. Poorly installed materials makes it sound like a negative term. But if you consider that he is thinking outside the box, and using vulcanized rubber in an innovative new way, it's now a positive term anyone would be proud to have named after them.

Dude, your from Sumner. No you don't.
So to answer you question, if there is any type of mount to allow the muffler to hang lower; the person you had install the muffler probobally assumed that you wanted it tucked close. All you need to do is take it to a muffler shop and have them grind off the existing mounts and put some new ones on. Pretty simple.

I kinda have the same problem... I got a 4 inch dynomax super turbo exhaust and it is ****** load.... I put in 2!!! resonators in to reduce the noise and made very little difference... My car sounds like it has alot of power but I can feel it doesn't. once my car goes past 80km/h it sounds like a supersonic airplane. Now the cops are head hunting me for me to get a new muffler.... I got ticketed 115$ and to get a new exhaust/ muffler it will cost 250 for a shitty one... I still want a performance one which will cost a good 500$. but then I end up losing over 1000$ on my dynomax exhaust. Did you find out any way to quiet your car down without getting an all new exhaust let me know
4" is overkill even on a turbo car. On a naturally aspirated 2.2L accord motor 2.5" is more than enough.
My advice, get a smaller muffler like a magnaflow 2.5" along with full cat back in the same diameter. My guess is that you only have a muffler on and that will be VERY loud.

some of the most ingenious and outrageous things i've ever seen have been "engineered". and really, who hasn't "rigged" something together from time to time and it actually work good?
I see it as a positive statement and love it when pple rigg up stuff
human creativity at it's best!

No, CD means 5th gen. The number that follows specifies model. For example:
CD5 = 5th gen Accord Sedan
CD6 = 5th gen Accord SiR
CD7 = 5th gen Accord Coupe
CD? = 5th gen Accord Wagon
And 4th gens are CB's
