I don't understand what you mean by input shaft 'rings'. I know on the 88-91 trannies, the number of splines on the shafts varied between the years, with 88/89 having 21 and 90/91 having 20, I believe. Dumb question but does your input shaft have the same diameter and number of splines as the clutch friction plate? Is the pilot bearing id the same as the od of the input shaft ?
Good luck.
Good luck.
alright i figured it out last night... 88 has 21 splines, 89-91 has 20 splines... and as far as the rings i was talking about a groove that goes around the input shaft like a ring and its towards the end of the input shaft... 88 doesnt have a ring, 89 has one, and 90-91 have two i believe... the rings dont really affect anything but its easier to identify what year tranny it is... mine happened to have no rings at all and 21 splines... which means that i need to take it back to the junkyard and kick them in the ***** and tell them to get me the right one
