Hey guys, ive been searching for a hatchback for a while and i found a 94 DX hatchback for $2995. Is it worth it?

Specs:

101,426 miles
5spd
no rust
no body damage


KBB has it at $2300 in good condition, $2600 in excellent. I know dealers add extra, but is it worth it? I know SI's are rare, so they are worth more, but what about DXs? Just looking for some input, thanks.

 

its alright but hatches are kindo of pricey these days

 

hatchs in mint condition are hardto find if its stock and running smooth i wouldnt pay any more than 3k out the door at a dealership

bumping this thread back up..

Went and checked it out tonight before it closed and it looks really good. No paint problems/dents/rust anything. I have to check to make sure everythings stock and hasnt been replaced so im going back tomorrow. I also didnt get a chance to look at the engine because they were closing.

I have a couple more questions about whats stock on a 94 dx HB.

Do they have two medium size speakers behind the back seats?

Do they have a duckbill or wing (whatever its called)? It wasnt CF and it did have a brake light.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

edit: still looking on opinions about whether its worth it or not.

 

thats a fair deal, hatches wont be getting any cheaper for awhile unless u find someone thats doesn't know what they have.

and what do u mean by duckbill? they comes with a small spoiler with a third brake light built in. And if the speaker were inside grills then it is an option, other wise someone just put some aftermaket ones there. sounds like you found a good buy

 

it has a d15b7 engine sohc non-vtec, they have 6 1/2 speakers all the way around, they do have a duckbill wing stock, and any other questions you have i should be able to answer for you

 

Yes, they have speakers in the back, and a lil mini wing.

The speakers should have covers though.

 

that's pretty much the price range they go for. If it has never been crashed and in good condition i would jump on it. i got mine after like 4 months of searching for $1900 in mint, mint condition.

 

3k is not a bad price, consider in mint condition like you have said.

 

Ok thanks guys. The speakers do have covers, and the duckbill did look like it was stock, but i was just making sure. Just gotta check the engine and make sure all the VINs(or whatever they are) are on the body panels.

 

Yeah i would hop on that if it is mechanically sound. Try and talk them down a tad. thats extra money for mods

 

ok some more info...went and checked it out today

speakers arent stock (kenwood)
aftermarket faceplate
minor dents/tiny rust (not deep we dont think)

Its what youd expect for a 12 year old car, but its kinda expensive.

Starting price, like i said, was 2295, but with all the fees its probably going to go up to around $3800. You guys still think its a good deal, or fine to buy? Or should i just wait for a private party sale?

Not for 3800 no. I wouldnt pay no more then 2800 with rust.

Yea 3800 is a lot, but the rust isnt that bad its a tiny spot..maybe about the size of a quarter, i dunno if that changes anything.

but this is a stock 94, with the exception of the faceplate and speakers, but its going for 3800...seems a little pricey.

 

How about you those another 3k in for 6k and buy my 99 dx hatch with 37k on it.

i got my 93 cx for $1200 everything bone stock from a wholesale lot, just have to be patient and find a better deal

that what i'm sayin a swapped nice hatch for 4k and that guys lookin at one for that price i would'nt do it. but stock ones are pricey if i were to buy i hatch that was'nt swapped i would go with an ef
