Default 4th gen clutches: XTD + Exedy?

I was hoping my 95 VTEC would make it until May with the OEM clutch, but it's starting to slip REALLY bad, and I'd rather fix it sooner than later. I looked on ebay, and there are quite a few Exedy clutches (which are highly recommended), and there are some XTD clutches, too.

Anyways, are those that purchased those XTD clutches happy with them still? I'm trying to spend as little money as possible on the car, but don't exactly want somethign that will break tomorrow.

Exedy is highly recommended by a lot of people, but do these seem legit? They seem very cheap:

If those ARE NOT real (in your opinion), would XTD be a viable option? The car has 165 hp atw, so I don't need anything hardcore.

I did a search, but I couldn't really find anything on them.

Thanks in advance.

I've got an XTD stage 1 clutch and 12lb flywheel and I'm pretty happy with it. Only complaint is there isn't a whole lot of pedal pressure. Gonna try changing my clutch fluid and see if that helps

How long have you had it in your car for? And would you say you drive aggressively, or more on the normal side?

Almost 5k miles on it. And I've been known to beat on it bi-daily

Maybe I'll check into an XTD clutch then.

Do those Exedy clutches look like the real thing? They just seem like the price is too low, but the box and everything looks real.

those exedy clutches are jsut oem clutches.
Daikin makes exedy and stock honda clutches. those ones are oem replacements and they are branded exedy on the box but inside they are identical to what you got int eh car right now.

XTD is good quality. I have the XTD 6 puck ceramic clutch, pressureplate, w/fidanza 8lb - it is really good quality. I checked it out before I put it in. I say go for it.

Ther was a guy that said his OEM clutch from XTD broke on him. No one with the 6puck or other discs have had any problems though. Not sure about their oem replacement. Might want to get more reviews first.

Hence me posting on here...

my9thtry what specifically is "asking for trouble?" The XTD ones or the Exedy? Because exedy seems to be very popular. The OEM one is really all I need/want, since I have to drive this car all the time, including in the snow. Seeing as those Exedy ones are "legit," that's probably more of what I'm going to get. Unless you or others think differently.

Daikin also makes the pressure plate for XTD

I made a thread a long time ago asking about XTD clutches and he was the only one who had anything negative to say about them. He said it shattered before the 500 mile break in was over. Overall I'd definitely recommend them

Either one should be fine. It won't matter really. They'll both feel the same.....they'll both work.

Its like chosing from a cone filter, or mushroom filter.........both will work - doesn't matter.

The exedy are proven they just are my taste. Maybe im just a skeptic, there are a few vouches for the XTD butt to me its OBX part two. My Buddie loves his obx diff so it might be a good move on your part. Like i said maybe im just a skeptic

I've only heard one bad review of the XTD clutch. His disc shattered after like 200 miles. Pretty sure it was just a bad disc, cause I've got almost 5k on mine and it's fine
