I need just a flange. the one on the end of a down pipe. Know of any places that sell the flange only? I tried local Auto parts stores and auto shops. They only sell pre-made pipes with the flanges on them.
specifically I need something close to this:

2.5" 3 bolt flange $1.99 from jcwhitney.com, or else you might get lucky if they have some collector flange kits at kragen in the performance section, check it out. Good luck.
We make custom flanges all time, give sam a call at 281 856 0400 or email at sales@bmcrace.com for a quote

Walter...did you ever find that flange? SMSP (Dave) has that exact flange, or at least I'm pretty sure its very close to 2.5" ID. He had them made specifically for our unique Prelude header flange bolt pattern. Contact Dave.

Dave's flange (above left) has an ID slightly larger than 2.5", to fit OVER a 2.5" ID cat.
How did you fab yours...drawing and lazer cut? And did you make it exactly 2.5"ID, or a little smaller or larger?

We had some extra 1/2" thick SS sheets at work. I printed out a 1:1 drawing with Auto-CAD, cut it out and use it as a template. Then went to our mettle cutting band saw and made a rough cut, then spent a little time on the grinder to smooth it out to the template lines. Then drilled the holes on the drill press. The 2.5" middle hole was done with our lathe. It was just a quick and dirty process.
My center hole was abut 2.5" Diameter for only 1/2 the way down into the flange, then a little smaller the rest of the way (to match up with the ID of the pipe). This way the pipe had a little socket to fit down into, but not go all the way through the flange. Then it was 360deg. tig welded to the pipe.
It's good to work at a place with lots of "toys"
Some times I just get lazy and would rather pay someone else for the work.
