Ok so my bitch *** brother decided to take my car out fora ride while i was at school so i come home and cars not there and i ******* flip out on him but the deal was he was driving it and in the middle of driving it bogged and died and he coasted to a driveway. We get there the car wouldnt start and i couldnt hear fuel pump. Also after cranking over a couple times i start to hear a a "bop" noise and I had some type of "exhaust" comin out(air?) so I go and get a junkyard main relay, go home slap it in it starts but only stays running for bout 2 seconds then dies and never goes above 750 rpms. Any ideas on this? Now I can guarantee he was getin on my car when it happened but hes not the moronic type to go over redline.

**CLIFF NOTES** Geting on car then it bogs and dies, go to start cant hear fuel pump and wont start. And also when trying to start it I started to get some "type" of exhaust coming out of my muffler and made a bop bop bop bop noise. then i replace main relay witha junkyard one it starts for 2 seconds never goes above 750 rpm. Ive got some theroys but I dunno. thanks in advance

When you first turn the key to run, can you hear the fuel pump humming while the CEL is on for about 2 seconds? If so, that would probably rule out any further main relay problems.

Check the rotor inside the distributor cap and make sure it didn't loosen. Or timing belt may have jumped a tooth.

 

thinkin the distro or timing belt because i do hear the fuel pump runnin and im sorry I didnt mention that.

 

you need to get your brother on lock. my brother knew he would got choppd in the throat and kicked in the nuts for pulling some ish like that

Sounds like distributor problem. Definitely at least snoop around in the dizzy and see if anything is out of place.

And tell your brother to fess up about what happened when it actually died because that's the best indicator of what's wrong. Even if he can only describe the feels/sounds.
