Default Metal supplier question

Just wondering if its normal for the same piece of metal, same size ( lets just say a piece of 2x2 square tubing) , to fluctuate in price ? One week its 6 dollars a foot, the next week its 3 dollars a foot ?

Also do you ever here the excuse, we need to order the metal special so its going to cost a lot more ( talking about $70 bucks for 4ft of crew tubing about 8mm wide )

Well the metal market is volatile, that is for sure. However prices fluctuating that muhc is a little on the odd side.

As far as special order stuff sometimes there wasnt muhc material to begine with, however a price as expensive as that i would start shopping around

Well I keep all my metal receipts, one month I was paying $4 a foot, then it was 6ft. The one guy that I knew use to help me out but he left. Now everytime I go there, it seems like prices are getting higher and higher.

I just bought a 12x12 inch stainless steel plate for $20 bucks, which seemed high.
