88 CRX Si clutch install hours
i think book time is 4-6 hours. but i know ppl that could do it in less. im sure any experienced honda technician can do it in less time as well. but they can charge you the full book time. labor is usually $60/hr at least, so $250 is not a bad deal really.
but i dont want to pay anyone $60/hr, thats why i do all my own work.

I don't wanna pay $60 an hour either, rates here can vary from $40 to $60 but its still a lot of $$$. I'd like to do it myself too, but it seems like it may be more work than I want to get into. The shop manual says you have to pull the motor. But I crawled underneath and I think you can do it from the bottom.
yeah you can do it from the bottom. You have to support the motor with jack stands or jack because u have to undo 3 of the four motor mounts to drop the tranny. For some reason ( maybe someone can help me with this ) honda decided to put three out of four motor mounts on the transmission??? I dunno, I just got done intalling an exedy stage1 in my 89 a month ago and it was kinda hardish. prolly took around 6 hrs total. Did it with my dad who had been a mechanic for over 20 years. My own Bunta!! lol. but you can do it ur self and save money for other mod's plus u'll have the satisfaction of knowing u did it. have fun and good luck
yep you can pull it through the bottom you will have to support the engine under the pan and i undo the passenger side radius rod as well(not totally necessary but makes it easier to drop the tranny), the linkage is hard to undo if its never been taken apart before id suggest taking it off at the shifter and pounding the linkage pin out when the transmission is outside the car
good luck, on a honda its really not a hard job

I just pulled my engine to do mine. Extremely easy too. Total time for me was about 8 hours, from pulling the engine to actually driving the car again. Time would have been less if I would have just dropped the transmission, but I had never done a clutch before and wanted to do it easily with it out of the car. Next time engine is staying in the car.
P.s. torque wrench helps, as the Pressure Plate bolts can't be put on too tight. I didn't have one but can estimate torque pretty well as I have to do it at work alot.

The pin doesn't need to come out period. Just leave the linkage attached to the transmission. All the times I have pulled engines I have always left the linkage attached to the transmission, and have never had to do that damn pin while under the car.

i cant see how pulling the engine takes less time than just supporting the engine and leaving it in there.
but i do agree that you dont have to worry about the bitch pin, just unbolt the shift lever and bring it out with the tranny.

Don't have the resources to pull the motor.
