Weight reduction, what more can I take off?
This summer my friend gave me a 1991 honda civic Cx and the exterior was completly trashed and the car needed an inspection. So instead of taking it to a field and have fun off-roading, I decided to bring it to the local 1/8th mile track just to have some fun. I took off:
-rear interior
-passenger seat
-sound deadning
-front & rear bumpers & support
-all windows except winshield
-skined the doors
-head & tail lights
The car wasnt fast, but just enough to have fun. I would as ``fast``as my friend who has a 91 civic with a twin cam ZC a almost stock integra Rs and I once even beat a golf 1.8t with a chip & exhaust but all these cars would have beaten me on the 1/4, I was just so light the car would jump like a frog at the start. It was humiliating because my friends drew a flower on the hood, a huge dick on the roof, ``v-tech`` on the right side and my name on the other
Anyways, I still have the car, and I got a d16y8 from a friend, so next year I want to make it even lighter to hopefully keep up with more powerful cars. What else can I take off, cut, replace, weld etc to be lighter? they wont let me run without a hood and fenders. I was thinking about gutting the hood, the roof bars, maybe replacing the winshield with some kind of inexpensive clear plastic (lexan, plexiglass, or what?) , take out the dash, and maybe the steering wheel to drive with a lightweight wrench
jk
Are there anymore things I could take off?
Would it be a good idea to take out the rear drum brakes assembly (I would have to sacrifice my m4D BurNouTS!!!) for less rotating mass?
