Default Accord EX V6 2006 Question?

Just picked up a 2006 Honda Accord EX V6 Leather w/ Navigation and am STOKED!!!!

However, this is my first HONDA and a bro referred me here.

How do I tell what size rimz and tires will fit on it as is, as well as where do you all buy and shop for most your aftermarket stuff from to get good quality for decent prices in Central/Northern CA or Online?

The first thing you want to do is drive the car long enough to make sure there's something you want to change.

If you bought a V6-6 then your car has 17x6.5 alloys that are unique to that combination, and you might want to think about not changing them just because it's the chief mark that you do have a V6-6.

If you really want to change wheels just for a different look then you are going to be able to find the 17x7 +45 and +55 HFP wheels available in various places for anything from $600 to $900 depending on which ones you like and how hard they are to get.

The 18x8 A-Spec wheels from the TL and RL also fit and look good, but these are expensive. Any good tyre you'd want on an 18" wheel will also be expensive.

Honda itself is a source of good, cheap products designed specifically for your car. The front air spoiler is available for around $250, already painted the same colour as your car.

There are no side panels or a "body kit" this year because the 2006 model has changes to the rocker panels designed to make it look more like the kit's already there. However, the rear bumper add-on is still available as long as you don't mind not having splash guards.

The factory fog lights are also available generally for less than $250.

As far as suspension goes, I'd like to caution you to be very careful.

All V6 have an upgraded suspension to begin with, and the V6-6 is a further step up. The Honda HFP suspension from 2005 will fit, and it will lower the car about an inch. However, the spring rates for 2006 V6-6 are already changed so much that you are not going to notice too big a difference in the spring rates.

Another thing to consider is the A-Spec suspension for the Acura TL, which is a step up in firmness form the HFP suspension. You can buy this quite cheaply either from an Acura dealer or from eBay.

There are two rear sway bars from the TL that will fit the USDM Accord. The Accord V6 rear swaybar is 14mm. You can put a 19mm or a 29mm TL rear bar on and it will increase the speed at which the car rotates. (Standard disclaimer for lift throttle oversteer applies.)

I'll caution you again: Please drive the car for a while before you start changing thing. It's easy to fall prey to badly considered sales because people do not modify these cars very much, even though they are clearly one of the sleeper-of-the-year nominations for 2006!

Wow, thanks for the info!!!!

Its hard to find good trustworthy information about my new Honda....

Right now, the biggest concern I have is that I have driven a high performance Camaro for the last several years and am having a hard time with how the Honda slides and does not have that low center of gravity/fat wheel stance that allows turning and cornering at higher speeds.

I don't mind spending some $ to make the ride more stable, but I do agree with you about driving it a while before I make too many changes.

Where do people get these new tail lights and body kits and wheels that I see out there, local store or is it best to shop online?

The main reason your car slides is that Honda always puts hard compound Michelin tyres on the car, OEM. This is a deliberate sacrifice of ultimate grip in favour of good wet weather and cold weather performance.

Your OEM wheels (assuming you have a V6-6) are wide enough for grippier 225's when you get around to it. I'd still advise getting to know the car well before you start changing things.

You're really flooring me. The 2006 Accord has a new tail light design with very bright LED. You want to get rid of those?

Aftermarket manufacturers have not decided yet if their kits are appropriate for the facelift 2006 Accord, so you're not going to see them officially listing many parts for the 2006.
