Default Alpine CDA-9855 (tried the car audio boards)

I just bought this deck, hooked it all up and it works great - even has an amber display. My irritation is that the main screen goes black after five seconds of inactivity with the menu buttons, and once you touch something the screen comes back on. It's not a defect, as I checked a couple of local best buys and their decks were doing the same thing. I tried calling Alpine, but their customer service center is currently closed. If anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know. I've dipped into every possible menu option I can see. TIA

It is an feature called Blacklight or something. My CDA-9833 has the same option. You can turn it on or off. Look in the owners manual.
