Default Cigarette Lighter

1995 Honda Accord EX V6
I am not a smoker so only use the cigarette for my cell phone but now I have a portable GPS system that I plug in there. I notice the GPS plug sometimes moved loose and the connection to the GPS stopped if I hit a bump so on checking I see the ligheter fixture is loose. Is it possible to tighten this up ...so to speak.. or do I have to take it to a shop?

The fact that the Lighter Recepticle is loose in the trim plate has no bearing on the GPS plug popping out. It has more to do with the Cr..p that manufacturers supply for their male plugs. I've yet to see one that wasn't loose, didn't come apart or cause some other kind of heartache.

I mounted a surface mounted plug in the bottom of my armrest compartment and wired it to a switched power sourse, changed the male plug on both my Laptops' power supply and the portable GPS I use. Never comes loose, and it's out of site
.

That is cool but how do I fix mine in my 96 accord coupe? I'm surprised (well, not really) to see others with the lighter plug coming loose.

to P_Adams: will this fix it? http://www.secureleadercom.com...block
how to install? 1 more: do I need the cig lighter cover AND the assembly? thanks, i know you know Hondas.

the thing is, unless you broke something(which is unlikely), you could just take off the mounting and reinstall everything nice and tight.
do that first before you spend 30 bucks on something you might not need

secondly, if you are using your GPS all the time, i would just wire the adapter and hide all the wires behind the dash. it looks cleaner with no wires sticking out and you still have a socket to use for your cell phone/ipod/laser cannon

It is actually the metal piece in the housing that is loose. The thing is the phone plug fits with no problem. I do not use the GPS system daily.
