Default obd1 or 2 for H22A?

How do I know whether the H22A motor I purchased is OBD1 or 2? And if its 1 how do I get things running for my 97 Lude?

theres' a stamp on the cylinder head with what year your motor is look at that. 92-96 are OBD-1 97 and up are OBD-2

The stamp is located under the heatshield for the exhaust manifold. Probably between #3 and #4 exhaust ports, I think. Thats the guarentee to see what motor you have. Take H22JDMEG advice to ensure you know exactly what you have.

92-96.all h22a's are jdm h22's which are all obd1's. the us version is the h22a1 which should be obd1 as well. if i am correct i believe the h22a4's are the ones that were in 97-01 and they are all obd2. stamp should be underneath were the upper radiator hose is located where the head and the block meets.

i know a few people have gone with the 97-01 h22 version. most like the 92-96 obd1 because they are closed deck vs the 97-01 open deck. get the correct ecu for the correct motor. now if you want hondata, or crome or any of the other programs, yeah you have to convert to obd1. simply changing out the harness and i believe it require ditching the extra o2 sensor.

ok you have a 97 obd2 lude and a obd1 motor you want to put in. this is the easiest way.

keep your stock ecu
use the obd2 injectors, obd2 dizzy.
take the oil pump/crank sensor off the obd2 motor and place it on the obd 1 use the obd2 wire harness.
The knock sensor has a different plug. so either switch plugs or switch knock sensors.

as of right now I cant remeber if you need anyother sensors. just put the wire harness on and see if you are missing anything. there might be one or two more on the intake manifold/throttle body.

if you want to make sure use your obd2 intake manifold.

P.S. the 96 was obd2 but was not an h22a4

I didnt quite do it like kulrevon said to do it... All I did was took the sensor wires that were down by the crank and fed them up to the dizzy on the obd1 engine, but I still used the obd1 dizzy cause thats where the sensors are on the obd1 engine... I dont think using the obd2 injectors will work cause those ones are saturated not peak and hold, im pretty sure I used the obd1 injectors in mine.

Oh I think I see what he is saying... Thats keeping it obd2 correct?... My way would convert it to obd1.
