I did the same but it really depends on mods. If you going for 500 WHP, an excedy OEM style probably won't hold, though an ACT 6 puck may be a bit much for a stock R with bolt ons.

What I'm getting at here is what supporting mods do you already have?

How much power/tq do you have and/or plan on making?

For near stock, you can't beat the price of the Exedy Organic.

For modified, I've been using the Exedy 3puck sprung disc + Fidanza Flywheel and it will hold the power no problem, and last a long time.

For lots and lots of power (ie: 400whp+) Clutchmasters twin disc or Tilton twin disc.

I run stock clutch disk with an Action 2000lbs pressure plate. Best from both worlds. Should be able to hold considerable more power than stock with no drawbacks.

I love my ATS metal single disk, but for a stock motor it is a little overkill.

I love my toda clutch and flywheel combo. Great pedal feel and holds rpm well on very spirited driving.

I don't mean to thread-jack, but how much does it cost to replace a clutch if you supply the parts. I would probably go to the dealer since I don't know any local shops well enough.

I know it is possible to DIY but I'm not comfortable enough with how it is done to try on my baby.

As i was saying to Blue R...
I have to admit that my car is not really all that stock, CTR intake cam,Mugen race ecu, light weight pulley's,spoon flywheel, jdm header, thermal tail section, ported head, and a few other things so i am running a stock disc for now but the new trans i just built has the 4.78 fd in it so i am a bit concerned about cooking a clutch.
I do a bunch of autox's and hpde days with this car so i am rather hard on parts..

What are your goals? Bolt ons, full build or boost?
I would say an OEM pressure plate and ACT strip/street disk with an Omni MC for anything that isn't over 200whp.

Boost or high hp --> ACT Xtreme PP and street disk.

Most shops charge anywhere from $200-$500 for labor alone. Dealership.....I don't even want to know.
