Default Bouncing and then dying tach

I have a 95 EX v6 and after its running for a while the tach starts to bounce around and then eventually just dies and sits at zero. I did put new gauges in but i dont think thats it as i replaced the tach which was bouncing before. Also the car kind of sputters when im driving on the highway going about 60-70. Its nothing i can hear i just feel it kinf of pausing for a second. but only when im at high speeds. Any help is appreciated thanks.

Sounds like you have a dying ignitor. If your car has under 150K miles that is still under warranty. Take it to your dealer explain what you just did and they will cover it free.

+1 on bad ignitor or bad connections to ignitor.

Mine did the same thing when I swapped engines. I ended up just buying a new distributor for about $40 more than what it cost me for an ignitor. Not saying that you should do the same but the distributor I received wasn't looking too hot.

Bouncing tach is usually a sign of the coil shorting out under load, but a poor connection at the ignitor could also be a problem
