Default Tranny Help FAST

Ok, i have a 98 civic, putting in a lower mile tranny, did this a few months ago. But i forgot a few things.

This tranny i had to take out the keeper pin (aka bitch pin) and when i took the shiftrod off the old, i forgot which way it was on..

So now i have it on the new tranny, but unsure if its on the correct way.

Take the linkage off the tranny and reconnect it to the shifter. Put the tranny in before you attach the linkage to the tranny. If you do it this way you'll know if it's backwards before you put the bitch pin back in. If it's the wrong way it will hit the cat heatshield. Just flip it over. If your stick is backwards when you're all done you'll have to disconnect the linkage at both ends and flip it over on the stick. I hope this makes sense.

edit: It looks backwards to me.

I think it's on the right way. The tranny sits on the right side in the engine bay, and the shifter sits a little left of where the shift linkage attaches to the tranny, so you're good I think. I would get under the car, judge where the tranny is going to be then look at where the shifter comes down. If the shifter is to the left (which I believe it is), then you're ok.

I would leave the linkage attached to the tranny though and then install it. It's much easier to connect the linkage to the shifter when you're under the car than it is to connect it to the tranny. Assuming you have the car on jackstands and you don't have a pit in your garage.

I just did this about 3-4 weeks ago and asked myself this same question. I was able to figure it out how I stated in the first paragraph.
