Type R owndership proposition
First of all, hi from the UK. Looks like there's more of an Integra movement Stateside than in England!
I'm looking at getting an Integra Type R as a daily driver and would like a few questions answered if poss:
> Is it expensive to service?
> If you're driving economically, what kind of MPG do you get?
> Is it as noisy and unrefined as some articles make out?
I drive a lowered VW Corrado VW G60 which is both noisy and "firmly sprung" so I'm not expecting Lexus ride and refinement!
Cheers, great forum BTW

It all depends on what you're having done. It's really not that more complicated than a regular GSR, but a lot of ITR owners will take a lot more care with their cars than a normal car owner. You might want to spend a little more to get better quality stuff (like oil) but other than that, no it's not that bad. When things break it can get a bit more expensive, but only because it's a limited edition car and a few of the things are specific to the car. Engine parts, transmissions, and suspension things, mostly, but when things break I usually just upgrade, so I can't really tell you 100% on that.

The sticker says 25/30, so probably somewhere around there. Here's a cool chart:

Well, it's not a Mercedes or Lexus. You'll feel bumps, but it's meant to handle and perform, so if you can't deal with that kind of stuff then the car probably isn't for you.
Lots of good info on this site: http://www.itrsport.com/index.html

Not anymore than a typical Honda.

It maybe a bit more but really nothing that bothers me at all. If anything, it only serves enhances the performance driven philosophy of the car.
I  my ITR!

I'm going to say no. Modifing a BMW is expensive. Servicing an Integra is pretty cheap. We do like to be more careful with our R's and we typically like to use better parts for our R's

I cant tell you about driving economically however I'll tell you that I get 25 MPG the way I drive. I try to baby it most of the time, but VTEC can get addicting.

It is more noisy, and harsher than any stock car I've owned (9 cars now), but once again the performance is SO addicting!!
By The Way, Welcome to Honda Tech!

There is no GSR in the UK. i believe the Type R is the only Integra they have.

Hi Neil
First of all anything in britain you need to know about itr's http://www.itr-dc2.com.
Running costs in britain are minimal my car is a 97 jdm model and have recently had my cambelt service from springfeild honda @ £199 which is cheap. Also you may hear rumours about parts being unavailable well thats all bullsh$t too honda have everything you need.
Mpg Im getting at least 25-32mpg using optimax and TBH its going to give you much better mpg than your g60 and go a good bit quicker for it.
As far as the noise goes its up to you, yes they are noisy in comparrison to many other cars due to lack of soundproofing. To me though i would'nt change it for the world IMO thats what makes the R such an involving raw race-bred car.
and thats my 2 pennies

For milage the best i did was 600 kms with 3k shifting and slow gas pressing with highway at 110 km/h.. the regular usuage is 450 kms city and highway mixed with a few vtecs, 350 kms if you do alot of vtecing and alot of city driving, and finaly, me and a friend with a b18c5 motor both exactly did 250 kms at a full throttle only track day... That's as close as the figures get my friend

In mixed driving (local streets and expressways), usually around 25 miles per gallon.
On long-distance trips, 28-32 mpg.
On the racetrack, 8-10 mpg.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Very helpful! Not as expensive to service for a low volume spports car as I imagined. Probably a lot cheaper than my Corrado!
Maintaining the car isnt that bad.
The mpg isnt that bad either, but its not the best. If your going to be doing city driving your screwed.
Its pretty loud, even when its completely stock. If your used to a luxury car then you will really notice the noise.
Do yourself a favor and dont get the car. The car isnt good for daily driving, and you will be really paranoid about it. Get a rsx, or a gsr, and you'll be almost as happy. Nothing comes cloose to owning an R
