Ok, i am suppose to race a '95 Del Sol with a B16A2 swap and regular bolt-ons, and i have a 99 civic hatch gutted for the most part with B16A2 with regular bolt-ons and i am currently putting 156 hp to the wheels. i will get my header today or tomorrow so that will help, and then i would have had all the parts that this Del Sol would have! so it would be a dead even race pretty much...i've beat him before....bad driving by him and i have a much lighter car, but he pulled something i wasn't expecting...he installed a 75 dry shot of nitrous and got a reprogramed ECU by some company like Pnematic.com or something like that that claims to give you 15 more hp and v-tec comes in a 4,800 rpm and has a launch control rev limit and what not but it is more top end power.

What can i do to even the stakes just a little bit more, without doing Nitrous. I can get the money...but i have till saturday, Jan 7th, to have everything installed and get things going!
Any suggestions are helpful!

 

Bench racing

Nitrous is your cheapest option. You could get cams, headwork, ..... but you likely wouldn't have time to do it all and get it tuned right. Your car is lighter, and you might be able to beat him anyway if you can drive and he can't but...

I don't know where else to go with this.

there isn't any chip you can buy that just magically gives you more power, and moving the vtec crossover doesn't make him any faster in a straight line. He could have had a chip made while his car was on the dyno, but I don't think it's likely he pulled 15 hp out of a near stock b16 on tuning alone. With a 75 shot though, you'll have a hard time keeping up unless you spray too. What are you racing for that makes it so important that you win?

Gut the **** outta your car.
Lower your tire pressure in the front.
If you have adjustable coilovers, lower the front of the car and stiffen up the rear.
Only have like 1/8gas tank when you race.

i never heard of anybody setting it so low, what are you reving to, and explain a little more on this low vtec setting.

Hey man I race for respect around these parts all the time, b/c around here us "rice burners" get none of it from the pushrod boys. (iHateJDM, do you still have my ebrake cables??? PM me)

But seriously, if you two both have relatively equal motors, what does spraying do for his ego?? Great you won w/ spray... now race w/o it and see who wins.
Get him either to race heads-up, or give you a couple cars from the start.

whats so fake about the HP you gain from Nitrous? it still shows up on a dyno if you spray...
