Default 1988 Prelude alarm, how does one disable it so i can put the battery back in?

Hey all,

I left town for a few weeks, came back and found my battery to be having problems. I pulled the thing out, charged it up and I think everything's fine now, except that[EDIT] when I turn the key to start the engine, it sets off the alarm[EDIT]. I put the key in the ignition and turn it forward, but when I turn it back to start the engine, the alarm goes off. I can't find any box for an alarm and the dealer never mentioned it having one... Has anyone had to swap a battery on a 1988 Prelude Si and had the same problem?

Thanks!

the noise is a secondary problem right now... the engine won't start! i've looked all over the car for a switch or a box or something... I can't find it. i'm gonna miss my 2nd day of classes because of this, I can feel it...

Its sound like you have a FACTORY ALARM. Did you look at the HONDA MENU BOOK or try to give HONDA DEALR a call see if they can solve your problem.

I think I have a factory one too... I posted this at 1:35AM for me, hoping I could fix it before this morning. I've got a call into a Honda dealer and they're supposed to call me back...

I did try the owners manuel, but it didn't help at all.

should say somewhere on the remote what brand it is. even if it came from the factory with it, go to their website or call em up they should be able to help.

SUCCESS!!!! Oh, God, I owe my life to this board. My Thermal R&D exhaust was recommended here and I love it, now this is fixed. *bows to you all*

Once I knew where to look, I saw it right away. I was looking down under the steering column.
