i have ls/vtec with pr3 psitons and p72 head...intake header exhaust....everything is smooth except shitty gas milage and black smoke when i mash around vtec...runs strong never hesitates....im also runnning a skunk2 p28....obd1....what can cause all this?....any help please guys.. thanx

 

dyno tune

 

your running too rich, you have to lean the fuel ratio out more because of the higher compression your motor has

get the car tuned, or get a VAFC and tune it through that and im sure it will be able to lean it out enough for daily driving and give you better milage

 

awesome thanx guys...you think the VAFC is worth it??...i mean apexi makes it im sure its gotta be good right??...the reason i want to go VAFC is because i have no time or money for dyno tuneing and the stuff to tune my car like hondata uberdata chrome...so maybe a quick lean out with the VAFC help me out a bit...

 

I just hooked mine up, if you read the manual it tells you everything, there is a correction made that tells you where your motor needs less or more fuel

u got the chipped ecu, tune on crome, ditch the vafc

I am tuning using Chrome as well, then doing fine tuning with my vafc

the skunk2 chip is probably the problem, it probably have the wrong map and is not tuned for an LSvtec motor

 

ahh....it did come from a b16...wonder if i get a ls/vtec chip will it be better?..........

 

have a custom chip made, are you located in the bay area?

if your ECU is socketed then you get the chip and tune it at a local shop or something

i would run chrome personally
