Default The boucy tach is back

So I cured my bouncy tach problem awhile back by replacing the distributor with a known good working unit, only for it to come back a few months later. My old distributor was also causing a very severe miss at almost any RPM above 2,000 - made the car almost impossible to drive.

My question is this - what would cause an ignitor to go bad? Could my problem be something not related to the distributor? I've heard the alternator can cause the problem if it's going bad. Also I seem to have a low speed miss at idle, but not above idle...however I can detect no signs of a blown head gasket or bad rings, no burning of oil or coolant.

I just replaced my battery since it went bad...it seemed to be leaking acid, lot's of corrosion on my mounts.

Could this possibly be linked to a bad ground somewhere? I know for a fact I've got a short or a ground somewhere in my turning signal circuit but I haven't been able to track it down.

Any other thoughts?

First off, do you have any ECU codes? That will tell you alot right there. The next things that come to mind are bad ignitor, vaccum leak, or the TPS. Hope that helps, good luck.

No codes so far. I'll look into checking the TPS for any problems, thanks.
