I got a phone call from my dad yesterday that the garage had been broken into, and in pure daylight. The garage itself was a mess. I live good part of Chicago, and this happened in pure daylight nonetheless. I had all the stuff I was planning on selling to get to the expo in a corner, including a new spoon 4-2-1. they took a few other random things, but this really hurt. I've had to deal with so much **** getting stolen off my R(badges a few times), and even a set of CW wheels out of my truck, and now this. I love my R but I'm really getting sick of this. I'm just a college student trying to make his way and it seems like all these thieves are actually having their way with me

I've been taught that it pays to be honest, bu it seems like dishonest people are getting away with so much. We see it every day here on Honda-Tech. This really is getting old, and we only account for about less than 10% of the ITRs out there. Imagine how much more is happening out there.

Well, if anyone sees a Spoon header for sale from someone new here on Honda-Tech, primarily in the Chicago area, please let me know. I think they were just looking for the car, which is usually stored, but it was at the dealer, and they probaly grabbed the first thing they saw, which happened to be a Spoon 4-2-1

you're telling me, I was just getting ready for the expo, and I was about to sell off other stuff laying aroung in tye garage just to get some money for the expo and to register. Now I need to sell this stuff off to help pay off my credit card, and have nothing to show for it.

I was thinking of camping out in the garge playing poker with some friends and just waiting aroung for them. But I doubt they'll be showing up again.

I learned long ago never to keep valuables in garages - unless the garage has steel doors and has a monitored alarm. This is especially true if you live in a "good" neighbourhood. Garages are the first thing to get attacked - kind of like a grocery store for thieves. Most thieves know that garages are usually poorly locked and not monitored. I would venture to say that your car is not particularly safe in there either.

Do you have a basement/crawlspace? Keep tools/car parts in there instead.

That's a big possibility.
As you know most of the shops around our area sell oversized wings, superwhites, altezza lights and stuff. And the car shows were all jokes. Might be someone you met from that circle.

 

Yeah he is. Unfortuantely, all I can do is fill out a report and hope something comes up.

I've taken BPRs advice and moved everything into my basement, but it sucks that thisi had to happen

I don't really hang out with too many import owners aroud here so I'm not quite sure who even knew I had that in there. It just angers me that people choose to steal rather than work for something

And my garage had an alarm, but it wasn't on.

i hear you man ,. mine got broken into like 2 months ago . . . out about 8grand and still counting .
no insurance either.
it sucks . we were working on a civic to run pro import for this year , but no tool s to finsh

my parents live in cicero/fullerton area and thieves broke in to their garage a while back. it was the weekend after I had spent the night. they were prolee looking for my car since I was cleaning my car the day before. they took my dads radio, misc stuff and vandalized the suv. I hate 'em.

We should all move o a deserted island and build a racetrack, it wouls be peaceful and crime free, hopefully.

 

Only possible thing to solve anything probably. You never really realize how bad this is until it hits so close to home, or in my case, too close.

I know its not really that bad and theres so much more that they couold have taken a and all, but it still makes you feel a bit violated.

 

I'm with you 100% on that one. And we ought to start young too...if some 6 year old kid gets his hand lopped off at the wrist for stealing a pack of baseball cards, I can bet you that he won't be stealing again, and neither will his friends when they see what happens to thieves...

Don't worry man -- karma will get those *******. It may not feel like it now, but it will catch up with them at some point in their fucked up life.

 

How did they get in your garage? I'm worried about my neighborhood, but thieves around here stick to busting car windows and stealing radar detectors. If I leave my car parked in the driveway for more than an hour I start getting gittery.

Upside, they were probably after your car. All this honda theft is reminding me of the old movies where the car thieves strip your car on the street in under 30 minutes. My old mechanic had a cop come sniffing around one night, while we were drinking beer/shooting pool at his shop. He stepped into the garage and about got tore apart by Dales Dingo doggie. He also had a rot in his other garage, surprise surprise to anyone trying to steal his livelyhood.

 

Hey, my garage got broken into last saturday along with 3 other of my neighbor's... And 3 weeks ago, my other neighbor's... Alot of my **** got stolen, the basically cleaned out the garage which they think its valuble... Now all my **** is gone and i need to re-order a **** load of stuff...

My buddy owns a PY-R and he got his garage broken into once and stole only detailing equipment cuz his ITR wasnt at home at the time... But that garage has been attempted 3 times and twice, someone saw them so i guess they panic and ran away... Damn Chicago is going down bad with thief... Good luck and i'll keep my eye out for a Spoon header...

 

Honestly, the best theft deterrent is to know the people who could possibly be victimizing you and your car. A friend of mine with a very fast Integra has a bunch of connections to some very mean people...one bad man in particular, who knows basically all the other bad men in town. And if my friend's car ever gets fucked with, he will call this one very bad man, and he will find the guys and make sure that justice is served. Although, thing is...since people know that my friend is connected to this very bad man, his car will probably never get fucked with.

Not saying that we should all start hanging out with car thieves, in fact what I'm saying is that it's very hard for the common man to keep his Integra nowadays, because not all of us have friends that can kill thieves. Pretty discouraging.
