Default ZC motor vs B18 Motor

I'm trying to buy a CRX that's local to me... I offered $1,000 cash and he might take it.
Things wrong with it : could use a new fender (has a dent ) , I/M needs to be done and a new altenator.

Mods : Coil Overs / Exhaust / Altezzas (taking them off asap if I get it) / Motor Swap

The motor was swapped before he got it.. Someone told me their buddy use to own it and it's a b18 but this guy swears up and down its a DOHC ZC motor... I know I could look on the block.... but the car is not with me. Anything other than the block itself... do they even look similar?....

Any pics?

Thanks

I searched for "ZC Pictures" "ZC" "ZC pics" and didn't come up with much. Maybe I suck with the search function.

b18 could also be the LS motor. Maybe thats why he is confused. You would know without a doubt if it was a b18c engine. There is also a b18a and a b18b which is kind of similar to the DOHC ZC. When I say similar I mean by the looks. If you are not experienced then you may not know the difference.

The b18a looks similar to the ZC because of the stepped valve cover. The easiest way to tell them apart is by looking at the timing belt cover or the vc. On the b18a the vc and tb cover are all one piece. The ZC has a plastic timing belt cover. The distributers are also slightly different. The zc's look like theyre angled forward some while the b18's are straight up and down. Hopefully itll have a b18a in it

The b18s just look alot bigger than the ZCs in person.

There is no way you could get a type r engine (b18c or b18c5) confused with a DOHC ZC engine. Like I said there is the b18a and b18b which are different year LS engines.

Yea I know its not a type r motor ...

It'd be cool if it was a B18 though...

I can look at the block and it should say B18 correct? if it's a ZC it'll say ZC?
