Default Differences between 4th and 5th gen H22?

Im in dire need of answers! Something went wrong in my 97 H22 so I went ahead and bought a used H22 from J-Spec Autosports since Ive had problems with it ever since the machine shop got a hold of it. And the problem is, my mechanic is saying that the motor he received is for the 4th gen since there is not a crankshaft sensor (I believe this is what he told me) on the motor he received. Any thoughts?

yea the fifth gen uses a crank angle sensor which is a simple magnetic pickup by the crank pulley to let the distributor know where the engine is in its revolution

the fourth gen doesnt use a crank angle sensor its distributor is different and senses where the engine is by cam position.

just swap your 5th gen do-do onto the 4th gen engine and you'll be running fine

The fuel injection systems are different too. 92-96 H22As used 310cc peak and hold injectors. But 97+ used 290cc saturated fuel injectors. That may cause more problems with the install as well. So it's probably best to swap over the 97 injectors to the "new" JDM motor you bought.

If I remember correctly you'll have to swap the distributors as well as the fuel rail. I know someone with a lot more experience in this will come along and give you some more info though but at least it's a start.

4th gens flow tested at 345 ish.. and thats the number i have always heard

as far as the swap goes, there was a thread around here, a little back do a search with the works obd2 and swap .. someone outlined everything to do a motor swap that needed to be changed when using a different obd.
