Default hammering in part of the trunk

So this is the situation, I drive a 98 LX accord sedan, I had someone build me a subwoofer box but it didnt fit all the way in. Can I hammer in the inside corners of the trunk about 1/4-3/4 of an inch on both sides or will I be in danger of damaging something important like the gas tank. Ill take some pictures of the trunk and the box later this week. Thanks

I'd give the "some one" a chance to modify his box (That I obviously paid good money for) before you start anticipating whacking away on the car.
What happened? this guy not understand the concept of a tape measure

The someone bulding the box couldnt make the width of the box any shorter or else the subs and the port opening woudnt fit.

How about beveling the offending corners, or the area where there's interference. A box doesn't have to be square, does it?

Maybe if you hammer in 1/4" on each side and shave 1/4" off the box in the offending areas it would be enough. I don't think 1/4" would hurt anything in your car, except the resale value. And hey, what's the worst that could happen?

Well since you've posted pictures that are the size of my kitchen table, and have not indicated where in the trunk you are wanting to hit, it's hard to help you. You've got to help us help you! Just bevel off the corners of the box! The only thing I can say, is avoid hitting your car at all costs. They're just like women, they've got feelings too. And when she dies (car, not the girl) on the side of the road, your gonna wish you hadn't taken swings at her.
