Your opinion on this strut/spring combo please...
Tokico HP struts + Tokico springs. I find them on eBay right now for about $370 + shipping. Are these crummy? I've also seen Illumas + Tokico springs going for about $100 more. Either of these OK for my stock '97 base?
I don't have a ton of money to play with... ~$450.

you can get tokico illuminas for 360 shipped on ebay, and then, save a little more, and get some ground control coilovers, a nice setup right there, will cost roughly $600-$700, just save a little more...
That would be plausible hadn't some woman wrecked into my car on the highway and left me high and dry with having to fix my own car. So, after a deductible, I'm very short on money. In addition, I'm a broke college student who can't find the time for a job while going to school besides detailing cars on the side, so it'd take me FOREVER to save that much money up.
I want to lower the car because I'm going to powdercoat my rims, and I hate the 4X4 look.
Are the HP struts that bad that I should just skip them altogether? Also, I'm not interested in coilovers, because I'm not going to be constantly adjusting my ride height. This is a daily driven car, and I just want something slightly more aggresive, but not over the top. 1.5" drop should be plenty.

no hp struts arent bad, they are pretty good, never ridden in a car with them, but they are not adjustable. and why can't you get a job? I am a college student who works 2 jobs, and also tutors college math students as well for cash...you can't use the no job as an excuse

I tried it and decided my grades were more important, given the long run and all.
