You can have Vtec without swapping in an entire motor..Higher compression in some cases..Lower compression in some cases which would benifit you if you want to go the turbo/supercharger route..Its a cheap HP gain..I mean you can find sohc vtec heads everywehere cheap because everyone is going b-series or even k-series now..

but when you swap in the vtec head doesnt their have to be a diff ECU because i know thie is a Vtec wire in the originally equiped vtec hondas

You can use alternate methods to engage vtec such as an msd rpm activated switch or a vafc. You can even chip your obd-0 ecu to engage vtec.
ok I know what a mini me swap is but let me ask you guys this....in your own opinion, what is the best combinations for power? IE...d15b8 block and D16z6 head or d16y7-8 head? answers?

not a y7 head because it doesn't have vtec

Word of advice on the b8:
Make sure the piston has 4 valve depressions on it. Some blocks did not have 4, as the heads only have 2 valves per cylinder, and some did.
Just thought ya ought to know.

Seriously though. USE THE SEARCH!! this is my favorite Mini-me thread, but there are more like it out there! you just need to look. Most questions anyone will have have probably already been answered somewhere in the archives. here:

But since we are on the topic: after extensive searching, I have still not recieved an answer to an earlier question. I am thinking about a mini me, but my block already has 180k+ miles, would this be safe w/ the higher compression, or should I invest in a new block as well?
