Honing?
Can you hon a motor with the crank still in? I am asking this because I need to replace my piston rings. I don't want to take the crank out when there is nothing wrong there. I also like the keep the factory settings. I also was thinking, wile I'm in there I may as well upgrade the pistons. If I have a B18A and it's a 81mm bore and I get a set of JE 81mm pistons and I good to go even though I will be honing it a bit?
I honed my cylinders in the car, I re-used my pistons, and just cleaned them up.
I didnt want to remove my crank when I replaced my rings.
I havent put many miles on the car since I replaced the rings, but thats cause its been visiting my paint shop.
I just used a self honer and lots of oil.
