Default '00 SI front seat brackets in EG hatch...

I know that the seats themselves will fit but I was wondering if the brackets from the '99-'00 SI will work in an EG hatch. I've been told/read that you can modify them to fit, they fit perfectly(with no mods) and that they won't work at all. To add to the confusion I looked for seat brackets on other sites and they are pretty much universal(88-00). Please help, will the SI brackets fit into an EG????

I have done this in my hatch with 96 EX seats which are identical to the 00 Si except for fabric.

The seats will bolt up 3 our 4 holes. The seats sit noticably higher. In the stock EG I had a few inches from the ceiling, with the EJ/EK/EM1 seats my head would touch. I also noticed they sat a bit cocked.

I strongly suggest taking the mounts and brackets off of the EG and putting them onto the 00 Seat. They will bolt up perfectly, you just have to removed part of the cloth and a few hog rings to get to all the bolts. Takes about an hour to do.

Now you have EK/EJ/EM1 seats that sit lower and bolt in perfectly.

find all bolts on bracket from one side - remove
repeat for other side
swap brackets with seats
replace all bolts on bracket for same side on new seat
repeat for other side

it's seriously like 4 clearly identifiable bolts on each side, if you need a tutorial on how to undo a screw and unhook some cloth...

So by using the 92-95 brackets on SI/96+ seats will there be more head clearance than just using the stock brackets off of the 96+ seats?

you only need to swap one rail. then the ek seats, or vice versa will swap into an eg and bolt up like factory. takes all of 10 minutes start to finish.

yeah and then have your head hit the ceiling because your sitting to high. I guess if you're really vertically impared that may be a good thing.
