ok - a little new to the whole non-b-series motors - heard of jdm zc motors (sohc/dohc) want to know some stuff about them? are they direct swap for efs? do they have vtec? is it even a good motor choice? (most likely autocross) - im basicaly looking for the best bang for my buck in my crx - cheap and easy is the moto here...thanks
Yes they are a direct swap, the motor mounts, tranny, etc should all fit fine. They are non-vtec motors, and I believe have about 120-130 hp depending on if you get the sohc or dohc one. So yeah they are pretty good motors. However last time I checked on HMO, they were sold out, so they might be getting harder to find.
in autoX that will put you in a mod class and you will get your *** handed to you frequently. ANY motor swap bumps you to mod in which case youre competing against any b16's, 18's etc. as far as swaps go its cheap, easy, but definetely not the fastest.
However. in terms of balance it is really nice in EFs and even nicer in CRXs so you will have a fast fun car on the track, just dont expect to take home trophies.
If you really want to do well in Auto X you could proly have a lot of luck with the stock 1.6SI motor in the STS class.

Well if you have an hf you just swap in the si motor, tranny, and ecu and thats it..I recommend swapping the hf axles and hubs for si/dx units(Bigger brakes and stronger axles) ..
Now if you have a DX you have to convert your harness to mpfi(4 injectors).
