Default in regards to runnig open loop??

Even though running open loop with o2, knock sensors disabled, does your car still use the coolant temp sensor for start up enrichment??? I mean, does the car still start up runnig rich then after it warms up a/f moves closer to stoich. The reason im asking is because I think i have a messed up coolant temp sensor because my a/f are all over the place no matter how i tune it.

Yes, the engine uses coolant temperature to correct how much fuel is being injected into the engine at all times including start up. If your coolant temperature sensor is disconnected (or electrically open) the engine should register as being infinately cold and the fuel mixture will be very rich. The sensor can also lose its effectiveness. Does the ecm have a code stored? How is it running in open loop, do you have the O2 sensors disconnected?

there are no cel for the coolant sensor. All that i can remember is that my fan wouldnt turn on so i hardwired it, I had a feeling that it was the coolant sensor but i didnt feel like troubleshooting.

the car runs in open loop cause i use BRE and Crome to tune it. I dissabled my o2 and knock because they arent there.

Im kinda having more of a random lean mixture according to my wideban.
