Default Timing/idle

Hey all,

Happy New Year.

I had my timing done yesterday. A shop where an aquaintance of mine works at did it. I wanted to give them the timing specs, but the guy said don't worry about it. He said they have their method, to some how time it according to what the timing gun shows them what's right??

Any how, I know the timing is supposed to be 700rpm's.
Some one here on HT said the timing and the idle are two different things?
If the shop did the timing right, the tach rpm hovers around 1,000rpm's, could this be ok ???

This little car takes a long time to warm up(wonder if this is normal with delsols?
After about 15 or more minutes then it starts to idle around 750rpms.

Thanks,
Joe

when the car is warm, idle between 700-900, engine timing should be 16 btc.

What does this mean??? I knew the specs of 16 btdc 700rpm. What does this equate to ?

when the car is warmed up fully with all accessories off and the timing connector jumped together with a wire or paper clip and the idle is at 700 + or - a few rpms the timing light should show the middle (red) line on the crank pulley in line with the pointer on timing belt cover.

I'm assuming this is what the shop did.

What is weird to me is that this little car starts off when cold at about 1500rpm's.
It takes about 20 minutes of driving before it idles at about 700rpms.

This is what i'm wondering if it's normal???

Thanks,
Joe
