Default Turbo D16 in 91 hatch project... how much$$??

Here's my deal, I had a '93 dx sedan that i got in '01. I drove it until about 215k miles then swapped in a '95 D16Z6 and tranny because the D15 was tired. I drove it for about a year with the D16 then some 17 year old girl pulled out in front of me when I was going about 45-50mph and totalled both cars. Since it was her fault I got about $2500 for my car with the stock D15 in it. So now I have a D16 and tranny sittin in my garage. A friend of mine has a 91 civic STD hatch (below DX model) in great shape that I can pick up for about $500 and it runs and drives currently. My plan is to rebuild my D16Z6 and turbo it with a junkyard turbo to run not more than 10psi probably, and then put it in the hatch. Wondering who has done this and about how much it is going to cost me. I have about $2000 to spend so any info/ideas are greatly appreciated. Also I work at a shop and have access and knowledge in the area so I'm going to do it myself so no labor charges! Thanks again, Ben

http://www.homemadeturbo.com is your friend.

$2000 is more than enough for that project.

i also live in maine and turboed a d16z6 in a 89 std hatch about 5 years ago, total the turbo kit costed me about $1,000 and this was 5 years ago, all custom built by me. About 2 years ago i pieced together a cheap T25/hf manifold kit with a fmic total it costed me $700, if you need any help with your setup or advise dont be afraid to throw a pm my way

I ahve to say that ssac (XSpower) is stepping up there products, however there not the BEST route to go, if your on a budget SSAC can work and people on h-t have proven there kits to last 2+ years.

you can use the p28 you will need a obd-0 to obd-1 conversion harness, an obd-1 distributor.

spoolinperformance.com has good pricing on log manifolds and other turbo parts. Phil at spoolinperformance.com did my 89 hatch with a d16a6, and the d16z6. Good work, great service, and great looking welds
