Getting ready to do my battery relocation and want to know weather or not anyone else has do this style of setup, and if not weather or not you think it would be safe.
Take a 2 gauge butt connector and in one end put the 2 gauge wire that is going to the trunk, and in the other end put the 4 gauge wire and the 8 gauge wire that are currently hooked to the battery, crimp down the ends and use heat shrink tubing to seal it all up. Will this work, I am trying not to use a distribution block if at all possible.
Thanks

You can also get a thing from home depot for $3. It's a large bolt with a nut, and the bolt is notched up the middle. You stack the wires in the notch and tighten it down, I did it this way and it works great.

I tried that on my 67 firebird starter - once. Damn thing rattled loose first time I drove it to get gas, even tho I cranked it. First I though my battery was dead, sat there thinging for a few mins, then my friend came by and I found the problem - and burnt myself on the trans coolant lines and sliced my arm on some metal.
Don't use that ****, its only good for stationary crap. The best thing to do is grab a torch, some plumbing solder, flux - then fuse the wires & connectors together. I would never crimp something passing 500-800 amps through it, then again, I solder everything anyways...

Yeah, solder the wires inside the thing and then screw it down, heat shrink it all. Mine's been fine for months and my friend did it on his hatch with no problems for over a year.
