Default Bought Hydro Locked car? here's the Outcome

I bought a 91 crx si b16a1 DOHC Vtec, from a good friend the swap has low miles and lots of performance. My idiot friend took the car thru a puddle no, bypass vaulve on the intake - Poof - white smoke bye bye to a normal idle. Ok he garages the car for two years I buy the car, my b16a2 civic got stolen few months prior Im looking for a new project. Ill take this project in my hands for 800 bucks

-800 $ Chu CHing!

ok so I got this friend mechanic doing the work for me Im fully expecting the worst. The car is throwing all types of codes at us about sensors on the firewall, tps sensor blah blah. so we proceed on replacing the throttle body, off my car the b16a1 and putting on just a regular integra 1.8 who cares there all interchangeable. put it on with some fine tuning and newer tps sensor I got from ebay it started Iding fine but still guffing white smoke time to time and bogging down and flooding, A timing thing we would check about later. The compression checks out 200 lbs per cylinder, we took head off and cylinders 1 + 4 were scored. I will have photos tomarrow. and am getting another block for few bucks just going to continue on with the rebuild. But im wondering how hydrolocking or that type situation would cause cylinder scoring? or damage to the walls

Basically, water doesn't really compress at all. When an engine sucks in too much at once it tries squashing it but it can't, so it needs to go somewhere. I'm not enitrely sure about the scoring specifically, but I think that would be from the piston being pushed into the sleeve to let the water escape.

Also make sure to check all of the valves over to make sure none of them were bent. It's very likely that a couple were.

If you're planning on building the engine anyway, you could just get the cylinders bored out for larger pistons
