Do a little reasearch on 8+ piston high-revving motors. For a car so light tons of torque only makes it harder to control; it has more than it needs already. The short stroke allows for maximum hp (which is the only number relevant to speed, but we won't get into that). There's a reason they don't put lumpy cammed 8 liter big blocks in there...

I know you're kidding, but vtec is useless in a race car. They idle at ~5k rpm. The cams are ground agressively as possible already.
