92 ACCORD WON'T GO INTO PARK !!
HEY GUYS,
My beater accord has 175,000 on the engine and tranny now and its been having a few problems. The transmission refuses to go all the way into park, no matter what I do. The dash will indicate park, if you push the lever in hard. But it doesn't seem to activate the park gear mechanically. I took apart the counsule and the transmission lockout switch probally needs to be replaced, but even if I disconect that it still wont go into park all the way. I sprayed a bunch of lube in there, and its still won't budge. Is there anything else I can check to try to fix this? Has anyone else had this problem?
-please help me out!
-thanks

It will be either:
1) Shifter
2) Shifter Cable
3) Transmission
The only quick way to tell is:
Park the car on a level surface on which it WILL NOT roll.
Disconnect shift control cable (at Transmission), and manually put the Transmission in Park. If it works correctly and the car will not move; you've got a bad shift cable.
If it doesn't go into park, the problem is internal to the Transmission and would require dis-assembly
