Default Picked up a 93 LX today.

well i got in a wreck with my civic and had to get a new car before my rental ran out. (other persons insurance would only cover a rental for 1 week)

being hard pressed for time i bough this 93 accord lx sedan.

seemed clean, ran really good. however....i got home and decided to check a few things i forgot to check in my rush to get the car before the tag office closed.

#1. air filter was torn in half, part was in the box, the other part was stuck up againts the TB.

im glad i was able to get to that before it got stuck FT...think any damage may have been caused by this?

#2. oil all over plugs and plug wires.

bought new valve cover gasket kit (includes all seals), can oil in there cause any major problems?

#3. popping when puttong on brakes...what can cause that?

Yes oil in the sparkplug tubes will become a problem. When it gets high enough it will start to short the plug out (run real bad). Then if you don't get the oil out first, it will go into the cylinder when you remove the sparkplug (you can blow the oil out with air, if you don't have air what I did was tape a small vacumme hose to a shopvac and sucked it out), this will work until you can change the seals. If you got some o-rings with the gasket kit they are for under the rockerarm assembly. Here is a link describing the process. It includes resetting valves. If you have any more questions on this subject, let me know.

If you're committed to doing the majority of repairs and upgrades yourself; I would strongly recommend you getting a Service Manual.
Popular publishers are
Helm Publications (supplies many OEM Manufacturers)
Chilton
Haynes

Not only will they guide you through procedures, but will also give you insight as to how everything works together

You might have a radius rod that the nut has backed off and it's moving in the subframe...My best guess

looked closer today and it appears that my PCV valve has a leak around it.

i already got the gaskets for the valvecover and tubes and ****, but i was wandering, could a faulty pcv valve caused this to begin with?

should i just replace the PCV valve grommet or both grommet and PCV valve. and, is the autozone/advance PCV valve good, or should i get a honda oem (im kinda poor)
