Default how often are you replacing your oil pump?

I'm changing timing belt and water pump currently and am wondering if I should replace the oil pump as well... 91k miles on it (98 itr) - it's my gf's car...

Didn't think it would have to be changed until the pressure started to drop or fail. But that might be a little late

If my caR makes it to 150,ooo miles I'll do it then or unless

60K on the ITR, but on a street car? Wait for it to fall apart.

Yeah I'm at 103k. I've never heard of anyone changing one.
Waterpumps go bad due to corusion which just causes leakes right?
I doubt that would happen to an oil pump...

What it comes down to is: Do you have the money to spend on it?

If yes then buy one. If no then don't.

I would change it while it is torn down with 88k.

I replaced mine at 65k, but I also had the engine out...

If you are replacing the timing belt, it is a very convenient item to replace. Generally, oil pumps will not show signs of failure until it is too late, but Honda pumps are very reliable and you do not regularly see failed pumps. But that is why they call it "preventative maintenance".

Why replace when you can rebuild?

oil pressure won't tell the whole story, you shouldn't have to worry about it unless you're revving really high and alot, have aftermarket pulleys and possibly too of agressive clutch? - i'm not sure about the clutch part through. if gear was to shatter, you probably won't get enough time to just go by oil pressure.

but speaking of replacing engine parts, what about valvetrain components? i'm pretty sure with stock hp and average driving should manage a whole lot of miles, 150-250k? thats if everything goes smooth..

but what about cars pushing more hp and revving higher and i'm talking about with stock valvetrain components?

I've seen brand new oil pumps break in a week or last forever. I treally depends on your setup. Having a proper harmonic balancer is key, insoect the crank pully for wear.

But, we are talking about the heart of your engine here. I say rebuild it while you have the chance and sleep easy.

As soon as I rebuild my shitbox I'm putting a new one on.

If you have the time, why not.
