Springs and struts if i were to do coilover i would do full coilovers. Its a future thing before summer so idk as far as money. Probably $400 max. for struts and springs

It's admirable you want to hit up the autocross, but I don't know if a $400 budget will get you the shock/spring combo you'd need to withstand the harshness of competition driving. I don't want to discourage you though. I'd highly recommend you grab a shock/spring combo upgrade as your stock dampers are likely not valved to correctly handle your shortened lowering springs. Unfortunately Koni's go avg $500 per set alone, and you'll need to pay for labor and alignments afterwards.

Excellent, the budget is flexible.

To start, grab a strut/spring combo. I'm running full coilovers right now, so I don't know of the total costs with configuring a set of Koni's with Ground Control sleeves (very popular 'round this forum). Get a price quote for a full set of Koni Yellows from the Market place here (i just got a quote for my car at $545 from NoLimitMotorsports), and then go to Ground Control's website to find out how much it'd be to get a set of GC's. Ask around here to find out the optimum starter spring rate to choose.

To me, it looks like it all could get close to $1k when you're done. I'd be happy to hear the price break down from experienced Koni/GC runners!

You're not going to like my answer.

When I asked myself the same question in January when I first got my RSX, I opted to wait, save up and go straight to the end goal (which for me, were full coilovers) because it'd be a pain to deal with:

- possibly damaged shocks, and having to pay for them
- added cost of re-raising, installing new shocks, aligning car
- and time time time

Hopefully other H-T'ers have a better answer!

I don't know much about good lowering springs - my take is that they're mostly for show. Do some research on H&R Springs, Eibach, and TEIN's. I recommend Swift Springs for performance-oriented springs, mostly because they're the only shop I've found so far that offer 32kg rates. Anybody know any other shops for high rates?

Call Eibach or Hypercoil

If you're serious about autox'ing then keep the stock springs and put a set of konis on - the car will handle a lot better than old stock shocks with lowering springs, and you wont get bumped up a class.

you can still get a drop with konis with stock springs due to their adjustability.

Don't mean to thread jack but, I'm asking my self the same question....just not sure if coilovers are really worth it? Also what coilovers did you decide on? Also whats a goot price to pay for coilovers becasue I've seen them go for as much as $2k?

Functionally, there is no difference between the koni + coil over sleeve and something built with a threaded shock body and comes in a pretty box with a JDM sticker on it.

The real difference will be that Konis dont suck.
