You can put the entire d16z6 head on. You need a p28 ECU.

Why would you tell him this?

i was talking about the head...but really my feelings apply to the IM as well...if i was going to change it out, i'd just go with some aftermarket performance IM

i havent seen anyone get big numbers without turbo on the d series. even if you get a better head itll only really show after you turbo the bitch. it dont cost to much. ive heard of guys doing it for around 1 grand. if you got the patience to shop around.

turbo with a good tune on stock internals will get you 230whp.

alright, thanks yea cause im gunna try getting most power out of d series head cause i dont have money to do a engine swap. so i was just going to do the "mini me" then later on turbo it.. so the z6 head is better or its all based on who says what

well, in the long run, building a NA D will prolly coastmore than a B16 swap, but i walk EM1's with my D16 all the time. my setup is a D16Y8 with the following: Edelbrock PerformerX IM, ITR Throttle Body, DC 4-2-1 Header, AEM Intake, APEXi WS2, and Evasive Shifter. Soon to come will be a Crower stage 2 cam, valve springs, and retainers, omni power valves, and a port and polished head. If you have the time and money(really not that expensive), you could get some JE 10.5:1 pistons, or even better, OEM P29(D16A1) pistons, that will have your compression around 12.5:1 if i remember correctly(In a y8 that is)

most d-series have a girdle, so i wouldn't use that as a basis on which block to choose.

so which head is better the y8 or z6?

found this is forum:
D16Y8 1590 9.6:1 127hp@6600/107lb-ft@5500
D16Z6 1590 9.2:1 125hp@6600/106lb-ft@5200

so it looks like the y8 is better

but average al says:

z6 out flows y8 head
y8 im out flows z6 im

so would z6 head with the y8 intake manifold with ITR throttle body be the best setup

only way to get good power out of them is to boost them.

Otherwise just do a B series conversion. easy for me to say tho since there are loads of them in breakers in the UK,.....
