Pulling engine
hi, im pulling an engine in a 89 honda civic hatch. the car is a 5 speed. would it be easyest to pull the engine with the tranny? if so then i have to drop the subframe, and pull the axels, but whatelse? i do not understand how to pull the axels out, ive only done swaps on automatics. is it possiable to pull without the transmission? please let me know.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Separate the axles from the hub, pull them out of the diff, pretty easy. Use a pickle fork if you get stuck. Undo the harness and hoses, the mounts, and then pull it out. Leave the tranny attached, you practically have to take the motor out to get to it anyway. You should probably get a manual, Haynes are cheap, under $10 at any auto parts store.
if your pulling the motor out it is easier to leave the tranny on. Take out the axles disconnect the shift linkage and exhaust manifold unplug wire harness and coolant hoses and you should be good. good luck.
