ground controls on stock struts?
hello guys,
my deal with the H&Rs and kyb's didnt go through... but i found a local person selling ground controls for a pretty decent price.
after i buy these, i wont have any money for aftermarket struts. so i was wondering if it was "smarT" to run GC's on oem struts? i dont plan on slamming it, but maybe 1.5 drop all around?
will i need to get a camber it?
thanks!

im runnin GC's with stock struts and my cars slammed. i needed a camber kit but if u drop it only 1.5 then i dont really think u will need it. but i would rather suggest u get springs that do a 1.5 or so drop cause coil-overs are bouncy! especially in my car!
ah wow... i dont wanan slam it, but i like to have the adjustability factor. do you have a picture of your car? with gc's i can still get back to original ride height.
thanks for your post.
thanks for your post.
I had Ground Coilovers on my car awhile back. It was hella bouncy and they killed my stock shocks pretty quick. And I also suggest on gettin camber kits too, cuz they were eating my tires also until I bought the camber kit.

they're bouncy with the OTS spring rates + stock shocks (380#/250#) since that's about double the OEM spring rate.
you could use GC's with stock struts. just keep the drop mild and custom order really soft springs...
otherwise, get some aftermarket shocks. either the yellow, illum, or AGX.

alright, cool, thanks for all the info guys.
maybe ill buy these, and set em aside till i can get some real shocks.
you guys think setting them aside and waiting a little would be a smart choice?

im not sure if this applys to all vehicle applications, but if there are 2 sets of GC's...one thats meant to go with aftermarket shocks (preferably koni yellows?) and one that goes with the OEM struts.
someone clarify on this. so if you just want a drop now and plan to get struts in the future, i would wait for obvious reasons.

As far as I know their is only off the shelf GC which are 380/280 and then their are custom rates. OTS is $299, custom is $339(both prices from GC).
I'd also wait and get aftermarket shocks, but if you bought or are buying the GC now and you want a specific shock like Koni Yellow after...then you'll have to buy the sleeve for the Koni Yellows from GC, so i'd wait and do it together, or buy the GC now for the shock you are forsure going to use, that way you get the right sleeve.
