I'm currently in the process of replacing the d16a6 that was in my awd civic wagon w/ a dohc jdm zc motor. I just got the a6 pulled today and the ZC will take its place tomorow.

I've heard of some people having trouble with the dizzy on the ZC, i think i recall something about some of the plugs not lining up properly? Any info on this? I'm using the obd0 dizzy.

Also, the wiring harness that was used w/ the a6 will work with the ZC, correct?

Anybody that has done this swap w/ an EE or EF please chime in with any problems or expierences.. thanks

 

the wagon a6 is the same as the Si - use the A6 harness - if your car happens to be 88 model, the ZC harness that comes on the engine will plug right in, if it is all there

 

i only have the a6 wiring harness, the zc i purchase didnt come w/ one.


will i need to replace the connectors as that outline you posted said? sorry im a bit fuzzy on what i need to do or need to purchase. I was under the impression at first that everything would "plug and play" with the a6 harness and zc dizzy. thanks alot for any help, i appreciate it.

 

yes, you need to get a different connector as noted in the instructions - it is not plug and play

the plug that you need for the ZC dizzy can be had from any 88-91 civic std,cx or dx engine harness

shouldn't be too hard to find one around a local yard or even order one from honda

 

yeah the SI plug is round but you can de pin it fairly easy and run the square plug found on any DPFi civics. its easy just match up the colors. 2 of the white wires will be the only boo boo you might run into. but if your car doesnt start then switch them around and it should fire right up. the blu/green & blu/yellow will have to be ran to the CAS on the exhaust side of the cam. use a 88-89 teg plug for that. again the jukyard is your freind

I'm in the same boat, so, what you all are saying is that all you have to do it color match the wires and move the 2 extra wires to the crank angle sensor? If so, that's ******* sweet...

Would swapping the "guts" from the a6 dizzy on to the zc bypass these problems? just looking at my options before i go spending some more $$. thanks

 

you have A6 distributor, correct? remove the round 7-wire connector from it and install it on the ZC distributor and run the 2 extra wires to the CPS
