Default Cel 17 Stupid speedo cable broke. Need some info

So my speedo cable finally broke on my 4 ddor EF. i guess it was about time it went out. How easy is it to replace? can i just get one from another EF so long as its in working condition? i know how to dissasemble it from the tranny but is it as simple to remove from the inside where it plugs to the back of the cluster?

thanks

Julio

Its not hard to do at all, the hardest part is gonna be fishing it back into the dash and around this metal bar. Ive replaced mine once befor and about six months ago when i swapped over to a SI tranny cuz my 4 spd blew up i kinda kinked the cable and broke it agian lol. I havent changed it out yet, cuz now its a 2 day wait to get it fromt he aprts store lol. Im such a slacker.

whe i got mine the first time i got it from advance auto parts, i think you guys have them out there. Well they might gave another name tho not sure....

I paid 17 bucks for it, and it was ok, the firewall gromet was round instead of oval shaped, and it was a bit longer, like mabey 2 inches. I wasnt real im pressed with it but it worked. I just swapped over the old gromet, and i think i zip tied the extra out of the way in the engine bay. I think the honda one is like 70 bucks tho. So i guess for the money i saved it was worth it. Ive looked around since then and autozone has it for the same price, but it has to be ordered too.

whatever kinda you end up getting make sure you pull the cable all the way out and grease the **** out of it. Next one i get im gonna order threw my work from napa. I get a discount and it should be a better cable, it like 3 bucks more with my discount plus the wait.

These rarely break unless you're dinking around with them alot.

I got a used one. It's not hard to replace, but it's a ******* bitch.

Not too bad when you have a SOHC D-series in there, but with my GRS it's a tight fit. Push it in from the firewall side. You'll see it poking through on the inside. Pull it, and hook it into the dash. Problem solved.
